These are rarely seen much anymore and it would be an ideal home defense piece. The S&W Model 3000 is a pump-action shotgun offered by S&W during the 1970s and 1980s. The shotguns were manufactured in Japan by Howa Machinery. Introduced in 1980, the Model 3000 was an effort by S&W to compete with Remington, both fore more Police business and for sporting arms. It replaced the unpopular Model 916. Howa of Japan produced the shotgun for S&W and the quality was top level. The Model 3000 cometed with the venerable Remington 870 and in many respects surpassed the famous workhorse. It was available in both police and sporting models. The police model could be had with a folding stock/pistol grip or with full-stocked wooden furniture.
