"Found Hoosier armory by accident. Emailed a few questions and got a fast (couple hour) response. First email reply invited me up to the shop to have a look and meet the guys. Glad I did. These folks are great. Easy to work with. Handled quite a bit of their stock which was surprising for a small outfit. They didnt have the FN FNX 45 i was looking for, however, they quoted me the BEST price in Indianapolis and treated me like a llife long customer after knowing me 5 minutes. they ordered the FN right away monday morning, and at the time of this writing, wednesday evening, I have my FN in hand.
The FNX came in a pretty nice hard case that holds the pistol with magazine inserted, and 2 extra magazines as well as the extra backstrap. The gun isnt nearly as heavy as i had imagined. The FN balances well in the hand, and is just a touch muzzle heavy. When loaded the gun balances out completely and the added weight is well distributed. Recoil is very soft for a .45. I sold a GI 1911 from springfield, and this is higher quality, better features and much better sights. The only downside i find, which is merely a muscle memory retrain issue, the safety lever acts like the traditional 1911 design except if pressed all the way down acts as a decocker. Switching platforms will mean a little more time drawing and kicking the safety off with less force when carrying cocked-and-locked. Over all, dont hesitate to work with these guys - small out fit or not- as I will be back with my next project in mind."
